While the songs would later appear on "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas," "Life Eternal" shows how MAYHEM's first full-length album became a staple of black metal. These five rough mixes were recorded with original guitarist Øystein "Euronymous" Aarseth. Attila Csihar tests himself with different vocals, especially on "Pagan Fears", which somehow sounds even more wicked than the final version. And although it was ultimately left on the cutting room floor, the pounding drum storm that opens this version of "Funeral Fog" is typical Hellhammer.
"Life Eternal" is a ferocious artifact of the most essential black metal band of all time.
